Is the hype for GTA V PC worth it?

Right, GTA V has been out for a good year or so now on consoles, but it isn't a real game until it's out on PC, so say the PC Master Race. Now, I'm not picking sides, I play consoles and PC, they both have their benefits and downfalls, but is this hype really worth it? No, is the short answer, I'll try and explain as best I can, but in short, it's just the PC Master Race flinging their shit because of a Grand Theft Auto game that to be honest, was OK...

Right, let's look at this from a console gamers standpoint first. You've just found out that GTA V is being released soon, when it is released, you purchase it and spend many weeks enjoying it, then updates are continuously released when your fun runs dry which adds new entertainment and challenges to do. The PC release is announced along with heists, rejoice, heist mode and the PC gamers will also enjoy this fairly fun game!

Heists and the PC release are pushed back, multiple times, everyone flings their arguments into a mesh pit of nobody caring, then heists are released, while the PC release is pushed back. Obviously, this is going to create some backlash, I mean, the game has been out well over a year, it's an OK game, but nothing to go crazy over.

I should just mention quickly, I love Rockstar and their games, just GTA V wasn't for me, I do occasionally play it with friends, but it's not my first choice for an evening of entertainment.

So, what's the problem? When GTA V was finally released for PC, most people, or most of my PC gaming friends went absolutely apeshit. They were saying it's the holy grail of gaming, however half of them couldn't launch the game because it refused to do so. When I confronted them with a tiny bit of trolling, by sending them this which seemed to make them get rather annoyed to say the least. Needless to say I was told to shut up because "the console releases had problems", to which I replied that the console releases were a year prior and the console players have had the game for over a year to enjoy. Now I'm not beating on Rockstar here, it's very difficult to make a game, let alone port it over to next gen consoles and PC, I'm not trying to beat up Rockstar here like I stated previously.

Long story short, some of my PC gamer friends threw a fit of rage when I sent them Titanic flute music and explained that the console gamers had been enjoying the game for roughly a year.

Also the first person is naff.

Mini Reviews #1 - WWE 2K15

So, I had the chance to play a little bit of WWE 2K15 over the weekend. I didn't want to make a full fledged review of this, firstly because it's a sports game, secondly because I have a schedule of every Friday for game reviews and thirdly I have the next year or so planned for reviews, so make your suggestions now to see me review it next year!

Well, how was the game? Bad. Very bad. I'm dissapointed to be honest. Not a single thing that can make this game any good. Main problem being the combat. You fight through a series of mini-games, i.e to grapple someone you have to find a blue spot on the RS and LS and then mash a series of buttons. When punching, it's slow as hell. It's a complete change from 2K14, which was pretty good. If this is what 2K is thinking will work, the WWE Game Series is doomed.

The roster is very lacking, no Edge, no Christian and so on. John Cena is the highest rated in the game which is just a problem in itself when the highest rating is 96.

Don't buy this game, if you want to get into the WWE Games, play WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008, WWF Warzone on the Nintendo 64, WWE 13 and WWE 2K14.

Gaming News 12/04/2015 - Black Ops III Reveal, Ray Narvez Jr. and more!

There's been a lot of news in gaming these past few days, for example, the Black Ops III teaser trailer came out, which you can watch if you click HEEEERE. Don't expect much, it's a teaser, it teases you with, well, nothing, it makes past references to the two previous games and that's it. I'm not expecting it to be a good game at all either, I didn't like the previous two games in the series and it's Treyarch, so expect nothing more than an abysmal pile of shit. Wait until Sledgehammer makes the next Call of Duty, because they've done pretty damn well with Call of Duty Advanced Warfare.

In a news story related to the popular company Rooster Teeth, arguably the best Achievement Hunter there is, Ray Narvez Jr. has left the company. It's a real shame to see him go, but I've gotta give him massive props for leaving a dream job like that to pursue his streaming career on Twitch, which I wish him the best of luck in and will watch him when I can. On a more positive note, Mortal Kombat X will be released, it will have DLC that you can try out before you purchase it. This is an awesome idea and I'm a big fan of the idea. The game will let you try out DLC characters before you purchase them, so you can see if you'll like the character before you purchase it. Hopefully more people adapt to this mechanic, it's a fantastic idea!

Finally, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has been announced. Oh, OK. Uh, I haven't played any of the Deus Ex games, I heard Invisible War was fantastic and I actually have Human Revolution but never got round to playing it. People seem hyped for it, so that's a positive I suppose.

Game Reviews #8 - The Walking Dead Season 2 - Telltale Games Month

The second review for Telltale Month, it makes sense to follow up the first season of the Walking Dead with the second season. I had very high hopes for this game, seeing as though the first season was one of my favourite games of all time, to cut it short, it didn't disappoint. Like the first review, this will have SPOILERS. SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS EVERYWHERE.

The Walking Dead Season Two (Which is becoming a bloody mouthful) follows the story of Clementine, who has wound up with Christa after I'm going to guess around two years since the outbreak seen as though most, if not all characters have visibly aged in some way, shape or form. For example, Clementine is taller. After falling into a river and not drowning somehow, she wakes up on a beach, gets attacked by a dog and meets the main cast and crew of this new adventure!

Much like the first game, it's cell shaded graphics, which fits with the game perfectly like I said about...the other game. Huh, hold on one moment.

Yeah, I haven't really got anything new to add, however, your decisions don't feel as effective in this game. I mean, you'll save someone's life and then they'll die or disappear a few minutes later. The writing seems less, well polished than the first game too, I mean, Telltale was working on Wolf Among Us at this time, which is obviously why the writing is slightly lacking.

While the game is fantastic, it doesn't live up to the first game like I hoped it would, however it didn't disappoint my personal expectations.

The Walking Dead Season 2 gets a 9/10

Game Collection Update - March 2015

This month hasn't been too big on games, only 17 games in March, but today completely made up for it at a car boot sale. So, what did I buy? I started off the month with an SNK game, Samurai Showdown Sen, I got it for £2, but used store credit and got it for free. Haven't played it yet, haven't got the time.

Almost a week later I went down the town with a few friends, I visited Ye Olde Charity Shops and game store, I bought Star Trek for the Xbox 360 for £4. Simpsons Hit and Run on PC for £2 and More Brain Training for £1.49. I didn't think that was enough though, so I went to my favourite game store, Console Connections. I've never left there without buying anything, this time was no exception, I picked up a boxed copy of Mario Kart 64 for £24, which is a more than reasonable price.

Another week passed and I went down the town again, I bought Bionic Commando and the Lost Planet Steel book for £2 and £3 respectively. Yet another week later, I hit Original Xbox gold. A couple titles I picked up were Prince of Persia and Goldeneye Rogue Agent. The next day I went back down the town and got the rest of the games I'd left behind which I'll list below.

That leads us into today, my God I got a bargain. I spent £15, overall probably saved £85. Overall, here's what I got:

Game Reviews #7 - The Walking Dead - Telltale Games Month

Welcome to the start of Telltale Games month! I'll be reviewing four Telltale games this month, Beginning with one of my all time favourite games, The Walking Dead.

There will be a lot of SPOILERS as this is a very story driven game, thus, I will be talking about the story, nothing major, but little details that you may want to discover yourself.

The Walking Dead focuses on a character called Lee Everett, one of the many survivors, who has to look after a girl named Clementine, who seems pretty set on finding her parents, who are in Savannah on holiday. After leaving her house you meet up with Hershel Greene, one of the many TV show characters featured in this game. You're kicked off his farm and find yourself holed up in a drug store that was owned by Lee's parents. You need to find a way into the medical pharmacy bit of the store and then escape to the nearby motel.

That's basically all I can talk about the story, I mean, I've already spoilt some of it there but that's how little I can talk about the story.

It's pretty much a point and click adventure, with a hefty amount of action, stories and dialogue thrown in to keep the game fresh. The way you act towards people will affect their actions in future episodes, for example, not giving someone food when asked too may change their opinion of you and others around you.

The art style in this game is magnificent, it's cell shaded, a lot like the Borderlands games and it fits the game extremely well in that sense. The characters look superb, all with unique looks and the cell shading really does look fantastic.

I must warn you in advance, you will cry. Lots. Well, I didn't cry that much, but it's a heart-wrenching game that is well worth your time. It's one of my favourite games of all time and it's a bloody good game.

The Walking Dead gets a 10/10

The Ten Best Stand Up Comedians

I like comedy. I especially like stand up comedians and the shows they do. I actually have quite a lot of stand up DVDs, such as Andy Parsons, Michael McIntrye and Dara o'Briain. So I thought with my love of comedy, I'd list my favourite 10 stand up comedians.

10. Andy Parsons



Andy Parsons is probably best known for his long time inclusion on Mock the Week, which is a quiz-esq show but heavily focused on the comedic talent of the contestants, Parsons is a regular on the show and has been since late 2006. However he has done his fair share of stand up comedy, most notably for me was his live show "Gruntled" which I got on DVD. He's funny and original, which is what you want in a comedian.

9. Dara o'Briain



Another member of the Mock the Week cast, he's been on the show for it's whole lifespan. He's also a fantastic stand up comedian, with a notable piece of work being "Craic Dealer". He plays video games too, so that's always a plus and he even incorporated it into one of his jokes in a stand up show.

8. Ricky Gervais



Ricky Gervais is a comic genius. He's made many a good show, including The Office and Derek. He's also a sublime stand up comedian with a lot of recognition from fans, critics and, most importantly, me. He even did stand up comedy in GTA IV DLC, so that's always extra points.

7. Eddie Izzard



Let's face it, Eddie Izzard is bloody hilarious. He's got so many memorable stand up segments, for example "Cake or Death" and "Death Star Canteen". Not to mention he's been on Big Fat Quiz of the Year and was equally as funny as he was on there as his standup. Apparently he's been in a couple films too.

6. Al Murray



Al Murray has a heavy educational background in History. He did a segment on how Britain has defeated every country in the world, which you can find here. Not only has he invented a character "The Pub Landlord" to centre his stand up comedy around, his character fits perfectly and the comedy/character duo is a fantastic mix.

5. Jimmy Carr



He's the host of Big Fat Quiz of the Year and 8 out of 10 Cats. Not to mention his flourishing stand up career. He's one of the funniest comedians out there, his laugh is as recognisable as his jokes, one of the best stand up's he did was where he attempted to offend everyone with especially offensive jokes. The funniest thing he's done is probably tax evasion, but we don't talk about that any more.

4. Russell Howard



Russell Howard used to be on Mock the Week, he has his own show called "Russell Howard's Good News" which is one of the funniest stand up show-esq deals I've ever watched. He's funny and has some very good stand up DVD's out there.

3. Michael McIntyre



He was the first comedian I ever bought a DVD of, he's probably the main reason I like stand up and has heavily impacted my opinions of other stand up comedians, he's funny, rarely re-uses a joke on his tours/stand up, he's eccentric and fantastic.

2. Frankie Boyle



The most foul mouthed, cruel and controversial comedian out there. But who cares? He's bloody hilarious and knows how to crack a fantastic joke, a lot. He's retired from comedy last time I checked because he upset a couple thousand to a couple million people. But who cares? He was on Mock the Week and did some hilarious stuff on there, not to mention his stand up is some of the finest I've ever seen.

1. Dylan Moran



He's made the greatest sitcom I have ever seen, which is Black Books. He has some pure golden stand up comedies such as "Monster" and "Aim Low". He deals with a whole host of issues in a comedic fashion and is, in my opinion, one of the greatest TV and Movie actors of all time. He's a highly prestigious comedian and well deserving of the number one spot.
